Small GroupsWe offer many small groups here at Conyngham UMC. The purpose of our small group ministries is to help all of our members and community grow in faith and friendship together so that we may be better disciples of Jesus Christ.

Sisters

Our Sisters group is a group of women who love to come together for fellowship and to grow in faith together. They grow in their faith together by watching devotionals and movies and discussing what they mean for their lives and their faith. This is an ecumenical group, which means that anybody from any church or denomination is welcome. Come and join them and bring a neighbor. Sisters meets every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the church library.

Plarn

Plarn stands for plastic yarn. This is a group that meets to grow their faith through fellowship and service. They meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month at 9:30 a.m., in the social hall, to weave mats together for the homeless. What they do is they cut old plastic shopping bags into sections. Then they take those sections and weave them into what is essentially large plastic yarn. Then they take that yarn to make mats for the homeless in the area, so they do not have to sleep on the cold ground. If recycling and helping the homeless appeals to you then they would love to have you join them.

Prayer Shawl

The Prayer Shawl Ministry will be meeting once again on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. They are a  group of fun-loving ladies who have a good time together as their fingers fly while making prayer shawls. They would love to have you join them and take part in this important ministry.

Religious Studies

The religious studies group meets to explore the history of our faith, the Bible, and our denomination and what that means for us today. They explore all of these themes by watching documentaries together, followed by robust discussion. The religious studies group meets every Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.

Choir

Our church has a robust and vibrant choir that helps bring the joy of music to our Sunday worship service. Currently the choir is not meeting due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Once the pandemic has truly begun to calm down we will work through the process of bringing back our choir. Check back often for updates.

Families Growing Together

This is a new small group only for the season of lent. If you want your family more invested in their faith, want to talk about God and faith more with your family, or want to grow closer to God as a family together, then this is the small group for you. This small group, called Families Growing Together, will meet once a week on Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the church office, from March 15 to April 12, with a break on April 5, as that is when church council meets. This gives us four weeks to talk and grow during the season of lent. The group will be a mixture of Bible study, prayer, faith filled conversations and activities, and spiritual practices all designed to have families talk about faith and grow in faith together. The group is designed to be attended together with your family. That includes both immediate family and extended family. We hope you will be able to continue the practices of this group at home with your families so you will all continue to grow in faith and discipleship together. Bring your family and let's grow closer to God together.
