Serve in the ChurchJesus Christ introduced a ministry of servanthood by caring for and loving others around Him. We believe that God calls us to emulate the actions of Jesus Christ while showing our love for God and others through our personal service. Here are some ways you can serve in our church.

Worship

We believe that it is good to worship with joy by being active participants in worship. We encourage all our members and guests to participate in worship as fully as possible. Here are some ways you can serve God, participate in worship, and help behind the scenes to make our worship experience as full of life as possible. To help out and sign up please call 570-788-3960 and talk to Pastor Graham or email wgtruscott@gmail.com.

  • Reading Scripture - Every week we need somebody to read our scripture lessons so that our people can hear the Word of God. Could God be calling you to serve in this way?

  • Singing - Every week we have one or more singers lead us in joyful song to our God. We are always in need of more singers. If you can sing, we would love to have you join us!

  • Liturgist - We entrust many different parts of the service to our members. The Pastor is not the only one who leads us in worship. The liturgist is somebody who is responsible for helping the pastor to lead worship on any given week. They can read scripture, lead us in prayer or other elements of worship, and or give the children's message.

  • Tech - We are always in need of people to help run our weekly livestreams of our Sunday worship services. All our volunteers need to do is hit a button to start the stream, move the camera at the right time, and click through a few slides. We fully train all our members of the tech team as well. Can you help us make our worship reach more people online?

Trustees

Our Trustees committee is responsible for the care of the church building and property. They meet once a month to discuss how to best take care of the property that we use to carry out God’s mission in our community. If you enjoy construction, home repair, or anything in that field, this might be a good fit for you. If you would like to be a member of this committee, then please contact Pastor Graham at 570-788-3960 or at wgtruscott@gmail.com.

Sunday School

A vital part of being disciples of Jesus Christ is growing in our faith. We do a lot of that growing in Sunday school. We are in desperate need of teachers for our kids and youth Sunday school classes. All teachers will have access to a curriculum that corresponds to the kids’ age level. You are able to put as much time as you want into your lessons as needed each week because of this wonderful curriculum. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. on Sundays before our worship service. We ask that teachers and helpers arrive a few minutes early to set up and get ready for the lesson. If you’re interested in learning more and volunteering to teach, please reach out to Bethany Gogola at 570-401-9613 or email the church at conynghamumc@ptd.net.

Council

Our church council is the main decision-making body of our church. We decide and make plans for most matters in the life of our church, including events, ministries, groups, and church policy. The church council has final say on most matters. If you’re interested in planning, organizing, or strategizing, then maybe God is calling you to serve on the church council. If you’re interested, please contact Pastor Graham at 570-788-3960 or at wgtruscott@gmail.com.
